Sufficient to supply
“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24
No one enjoys getting that letter from the bank telling them that their account has been overdrawn, that a check has been written or an amount has been withdrawn, and that there are insufficient funds to cover the amount that was removed. But that is something that will never happen when we pray. Prayer is the means that God has given to those who know Him that allows us to tap into the resources He has available for us. And because He is God, because He has created and owns all things, His resources are limitless; we can never “overdraw” His account. We can never ask for more than He has available for us. God tells us that all of the riches of heaven are at the disposal of every believer, and are distributed to us as we have need and according to His will. And we find security in the fact that, whatever we need, God is always sufficient to supply it for us. What a comfort it is that God’s heavenly account for His children can never be “overdrawn!”
