Peace in unstable times
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7
We live in a frightening world. As we read and hear of world events, as we watch these events unfold on the evening news, we are reminded of just how unstable this world is. There seems to be a new crisis almost weekly, whether it be locally, nationally, or internationally. And if we allow ourselves to get drawn into them, we could live in a constant state of fear. But it is then that we must realize that feelings of fear don’t come from God. Those feelings come as we forget who is truly in control of all the things we read and hear about. And for those who have placed their faith in Him, we realize that our faith rests, not in the political and social leaders, but rather in the One who has control over all things. Our faith rests in that One who can and will work every event that occurs around us to match His ultimate plan. As a believer, we never need to fear or worry, no matter what goes on around us, no matter how unstable things may get. God is in control of all things, and because of that, we can have peace.
