“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” Psalms 1:1

It has been said that we are known by the company we keep. Our reputation, what others think about us, is often based on who we choose to associate with. And God’s word confirms that fact. The One who made us makes clear in His word that who we associate with will affect the way we think, it will affect the attitudes we have, it will affect the way we behave. If we hang around the same people long enough, who they are will begin to rub off on us. So, the word of God is clear, if we want to please Him, if we want to live in a way that glorifies Him, we must be selective in our associates; we must choose our friends carefully. If we desire to please our Father with every part of our lives, then we must be careful to spend time with those who have the same goal and the same desire. We must choose to be around those who have made the things of the Lord a priority, and who have set aside the things of the flesh and of the world. So, God’s word is clear: we must choose our companions wisely and must seek to keep company with those who desire to follow the ways of the Lord.
