“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” Isaiah 43:25

“Forgive and forget…” Have you ever been wronged by another, and as you discuss that situation with a friend or family member, that is the advice that you are given? Those words are often used as advice to someone who has been wronged by another. And although the words sound good and although the intent is good, fulfilling those words is often very difficult for a person to achieve. Sometimes the wrong is so great, the offense is so extreme, that forgiving and then forgetting seems like an impossible task. But there is One who can fulfill those words completely, who is able completely to forgive and completely to forget, and that is God. When we repent and confess our sins to Him, He does what we often find impossible to do; He forgives, and then He forgets. God chooses not to remember my sin once I confess it to Him, and it is never again held against me. And the result of that is, when He looks at me, He no longer sees my sin; instead, He sees me clothed in His own righteousness. Praise God that He is truly able to forgive us and never remember our sin again!
