Victory and peace
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Life can be overwhelming at times. Our personal struggles, as well as national issues and world-wide events often seem to have no answers. People come onto the scene and promise solutions. Movements rise and express the hope that somehow they will be able to bring peace to a world of strife. And yet, the people and the movements come and go, and peace continues to elude us. And all of this can almost cause us to throw up our hands in defeat. Until we realize that, for those who know the Lord, victory is not just coming; victory is already here. We don’t have to wait for someone to come onto the scene and bring peace. If we have placed our trust in the One who has already overcome whatever difficulty we face, then victory and peace are a present reality. And so, we need not live in daily despair; we can rejoice in daily victory, victory that has already been won for us personally by the God who has power over every circumstance. So, whatever it is that may go on inside you or around you, don’t despair. Peace and victory are yours through the finished work of our Savior upon the cross of Calvary.
