“For I am the Lord; I change not;” Malachi 3:6

How do you feel about change? Some people love change; they like things new and different. They will buy a new car or new furniture, not because they need it, but just because they are ready for a change. Others hate change; they like things dependable and secure. They will hold onto things that should have been discarded years ago, just because they can’t handle the change. But, no matter how we feel about change in this life, we can be grateful for the fact that God never changes. One of the attributes that makes God who He is is that His character and His nature are always the same. And what that means to us practically is that the promises He has made to us in His word never change. His mercies to us endure forever, and His love never fails. What God has promised to us and given to us will always remain, because God does not change His mind about those things. For those of us who know the Lord, we can rest secure in the fact that, although things on earth may change at a rate too rapid to keep up with, God remains constant; He will never change. And we can depend on this God who is the same “yesterday, today, and forever.”
