“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.” Psalm 57:7

We are told that heart disease is one the leading causes of death in our nation today. And so, those in the medical field give us ways to care for our hearts, to prevent issues from arising. They tell us what to eat and what not to eat, what activities we should and should not be involved in, what habits we should encourage and which we should avoid. Spiritually speaking, the same issues exist. If we don’t care for our hearts spiritually, we will be drawn into behaviors and ways of thinking that ultimately will destroy us. So, God gives us the preventative measure to take. And God’s recommendation for spiritual heart health is actually much simpler than what they give us to care for our physical hearts. God says simply that we are to set our hearts on Him. We are to fix our hearts on who He is, on His matchless glory and His measureless grace. We are to consider all of His wondrous works, and we are to magnify Him for them. And as we set our hearts there, our thoughts and our behavior will be exactly what He desires from us, and our lives will please Him. Do you want to avoid spiritual heart trouble? Then fix your heart upon Him.
